Pool Ball Sweater Update 3 (feat. a teddy bear version!)

This project’s really starting to come together! Between finishing the body, washing and blocking, planning out the graphics, and even knitting a tiny matching version for my teddy bear, it’s finally looking like the sweater I pictured in my head. Here’s everything that’s happened since last week:

Finished the body ribbing: I finished knitting the 2x2 body ribbing and bound off using Italian bind-off (I exaggerated last week—it only ended up taking about two hours). The length feels just right now that it's done.

Weaved in ends, washed, and blocked: With the body finished, I weaved in all my ends, gave the sweater a wash, and pinned it on the blocking mats to dry. It took almost two full days to dry, so in the meantime I...

Knit my teddy bear a matching sweater: (More on this in a bit).

Planned out the graphic placements: Once it was mostly dry, I started figuring out exactly where the pool balls should go. I made and colored paper cutouts to see how everything looked together, then traced circles with yarn (Truboo worked great for that) to hold the spots in place.

Started the graphics: With everything mapped out, I started duplicate stitching the pool balls onto the sweater. It's incredibly slow, but seeing it finally come together exactly as I pictured has me so excited.

Matching Teddy Bear Sweater

While I was waiting for my sweater to dry, I realized I had just enough green yarn left to make my teddy bear a tiny matching version. Once I planned out the graphics for my own sweater, I drew out the pool ball designs to the gauge of the little sweater, and placed them to match where they would be on mine. It was a great way to warm up with duplicate stitch before moving onto the real deal and to see how all the colors would look together. I thought this came out so cute it deserved its own section.

Hopefully next week I’ll have the base sweater pattern finished and ready to share, with the graphics to follow soon after!
