Tablecloth Doily & the Beastly Border

Pretty much all I’ve been doing this week is working on this doily. Many hours clocked in at the crochet factory. Since last Friday, I finished the entire filet chart and now I’m working on adding the border.

This is the border pattern I’m working from:

And this is where I’m at now:

This doily has gotten me through all 8 seasons of Castle and about 3 seasons so far of Bones.

I seriously underestimated just how much work this border would be. I originally thought maybe two days max for the border, but after completing the first row, I realized not only how painfully wrong I was, but also that I’d be needing another cone of thread.

This is how much thread I have left:

The cone of thread I got went a little like this:

Never-ending thread (about 130 rows of my filet chart) Absolute graveyard of scraps Another long stretch that finished my chart and got me a decent part of the border.

So now I’m just using the scraps I put onto bobbins until they run out, and then I’ll have to take a break until the new cone gets here on the 21st.

I was really hoping this week would be the final reveal and that my stepmom would get this closer to Christmas than her birthday in February, but here we are. If anyone cares to see the finished doily, come back at the end of January and get in line behind me.
