Another Cloud Sweater: Complete

I might’ve said this already, but the statement still stands: my Cloud Sweater in Lang Cloud 14 is my absolute favorite to wear out of all the sweaters I’ve made so far.

And now... it has some competition.

Cloud Sweater #2 is complete.

As much as I love the first one, there were a few small tweaks I wanted to make the second time around.

Here’s what I changed:

• Sized down to a Small instead of a Medium.

Lang Cloud has no problem stretching horizontally, so I knew I could still get the oversized fit I like. Sizing down let me reallocate that extra yarn into length instead.

• Sleeves.

I picked up 2 fewer stitches on the sleeves to keep the proportions balanced with the smaller size, and I kept the decrease rate from my first sweater (every 10th row instead of the pattern’s every 14th).

But the biggest change was sleeve length. My only real complaint with my first Cloud sweater is that the sleeves ended up slightly too short—I’m always pulling them down. So this time, I added extra rows before the ribbing.

Fresh off the blocking mats they feel just a tad long, but I remember thinking the first sleeves were perfect at first—and those ended up short. So I actually think I nailed it.

• Adjusted the funnel neck.

For sizes XXS-M, the pattern calls for 74 stitches around the neckline. My first sweater had 76. This time I followed the intended 74 and added one extra row for just a bit more height.

• A slightly longer torso.

I essentially knit until I ran out of yarn, which landed just a bit longer than my first one.

The differences are subtle, but I think they do a lot for the overall proportions. It feels like all the yarn went exactly where it should’ve on this one, and I genuinely love how it came out—I’m literally wearing it to work this weekend.

But first, one final touch:
