Things I Want to Knit (Spring/Summer 2026)

I just turned 27! And the only thing exciting about that is the fact that I’m one year closer to it being socially acceptable for me to spend my days knitting and watching cable TV reruns. And the gift cards I received to buy yarn for such endeavors.

So, in honor of my birthweek, the gift cards I got from my parents, and $20 off from the local yarn store, here are some of the things I want to knit:

Take Turns Tank

I feel like I just need more warm weather knits (most of what this list will be) and I was really drawn to the shape and finishing of the Take Turns Tank. It calls for a sport weight yarn, so I’m planning to use Noro Ohajiki because it seems like a good fit for the gauge and fiber, and also, it's really beautiful. It’s mostly cotton with a little silk and wool, which feels like the best of both worlds. It might end up a little cropped, though, since the smallest size is basically exactly one skein. And that’s all I’m getting.

Rival Tee

When I saw the Rival Tee, it was honestly love at first sight. It’s just such a cool pattern, and I immediately knew I wanted to make it. It calls for fingering weight yarn held double, so I’m planning to use black as my main color and white as the secondary—my favorite color duo. I ended up going with HiKoo CoBaSi for this, which I’m excited to try.

Camisole No. 9

Camisole No. 9 just feels like one of those patterns I need to make. I’m going to give Cascade Cotton Sox a shot for this one. I didn’t want something too silky or merino-y. I want something that can function more like a real top rather than a base layer, and if I’m lucky, not require a bra. I’m making it in black, of course, but if it goes well I might make more in different colors.

Clay Tee

I’ve been looking at the Clay Tee for a while, and I just love how this pattern looks in both long and short sleeve versions. I'm doing short sleeves (I need the warm weather knits, remember?). I ended up ordering Drops Belle in the color Zinc, which I haven’t used before, so I’m excited to try it. I feel like this is going to be a really cool not-so-basic basic.

Lucky Stars Beanie

I mentioned the Lucky Stars Beanie a few weeks ago in my Urth 16 yarn review post here, and I said I could definitely see myself making this hat when I could justify the cost of the yarn. That time is now, with gift cards to fund it. I got a skein of black and a skein of white, and I plan to start it next once my Esther Sweater gets too big to bring to work.

Poncho?? with Juniper Moon Farm Glimmer

This is the yarn I got with my $20 off birthday coupon from my local yarn store because it just felt like a good way to celebrate. The picture honestly doesn’t do it justice, and I’m not exactly sure what I’m making with it yet, but I’m leaning towards a poncho. If anyone has suggestions, I’d be open to hearing them. Honestly, just seeing it in the skein makes me happy.

I haven’t knit nearly enough this week, so I’m just going to end this with a quick update on my Esther Sweater:
