Raglan Pattern Progress

Instead of rushing to get the full pattern out this week, I wanted to share a little update on how things are going behind the scenes. I’ be been testing, adjusting, and getting helpful feedback — especially from Jane, who tried on the version I made for her.

She sent me photos, and they confirmed a few things I’d been second-guessing — mainly that the yoke needed more length, which also ended up affecting the sleeve length. I think I just really underestimated the length overall — Jane’s 5’10”, so she needs more space in both the yoke and the sleeves. The main issue with the yoke is that it sits a little too close to the armpits and looks a bit off proportionally. She said it didn’t feel too tight (the yarn is super stretchy), but seeing it on her helped me better understand what needed adjusting. The body circumference and the arm circumference were both good, so those measurements are staying the same.

Since then I’ve:

• Finished the final version of size 1

• Updated the yoke shaping for sizes 1 through 4

• Received Jane’s wingspan measurement so I can get her something that actually fits

• Started knitting a size 3 (hoping it’ll be slightly oversized on her — I’ll try it on too, to see what it looks like two sizes up for me)

• Started thinking through a possible size 5

The version Jane got was meant to be a size 2, and most of that sizing still works — but the yoke she received was more in line with what size 1 will be. Hoping the new size 3 works out better and gives a clearer sense of how it fits when you size up.

Here’s the photos Jane sent, plus a look at the notes I’ve been working from.

The final pattern is out now — check it out here!
