What I’m Knitting Next

Last week I finished my Olga Jacket, this week I finished my Peony Vest (pending buttons), and I’m at least halfway done with my Lucky Stars Beanie. You know what that means?

New yarn!

I’ll probably show off my finished items next week, but for now I’m excited to talk about the projects that are next in my queue since both yarn deliveries are supposed to be here today (on a Funky Fresh Friday)!

I already talked about this one in my Current & Upcoming WIPs post—how I saw this pattern and bought it immediately. I said before I wanted to use one of the recommended yarns, Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted another black and white project. Despite just finishing my Olga Jacket and now working on my Lucky Stars beanie in black and white, I just couldn’t help myself. It’s my favorite color combination.

I’d be lying if I said cost wasn’t holding me back a little too. It retails for about $14 a skein, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend about $60 on a tank top. But then I saw this TikTok of 3 friends wearing their dot|tops and I thought, I want to join the club! So I caved.

Upstream Sweater by ROWS Knitwear

This choice was also influenced by TikTok. I saw a girl say her most complimented knit is her Upstream Sweater by ROWS Knitwear and I looked it up and fell in love. I could imagine it in a royal/cobalt blue and in my brain, it’s the coolest sweater ever.

It uses Cascade 220 Superwash Aran as one of the recommended yarns and that’s what I went with. Cascade has yet to disappoint me. I like the regular 220 Superwash, it comes in a million colors, and I wanted the wave texture on my sweater to come out how it’s supposed to.

The price held me back for a little on this one too. I needed 10 skeins—which at retail price, would cost about $140. Eventually I found it on sale for $9/skein, making it only $90 for a whole sweater’s quantity.

I got it in the color Blue Velvet (813). It’s not the type of color I’d normally go for, but it’s calling to me for this project.

I’m not totally sure which one of these I’ll knit next. I probably should start the dot|top first since it’s a tank top and the end of summer is rapidly approaching, but I can’t promise I won’t get distracted by the pretty blue yarn!
